History in a nutshell
French Bulldogs were first bred as a smaller version of the English Bulldog in the 19th-century England. They were particularly popular among lacemakers in Nottinghamshire, who initially kept them to chase rats but soon fell in love with their small size and calm, friendly nature. After the Industrial Revolution, they had to move to southern France where lacemaking was still done by hand and took their dogs with them. Frenchies soon got popular in the circles of French artists, actors, writers in Paris as well as rich Americans visiting the city. In fact, they loved Frenchies so much that they took them to the US, where they finally got recognized by the AKC in 1898.
Frenchie Characteristics
French Bulldogs are one of the most popular dog breeds thanks to their fun, adaptable, friendly nature and distinctive look. You can easily recognize them by their flat, heavily wrinkled faces and large, erect bat ears, which make them absolutely adorable. Despite having the strong, muscular body of a bulldog Frenchies are small in size: adult males usually weigh 20 to 28 pounds while females are 16 to 24 pounds.
Frenchie Colors
Frenchies come in a wide variety of different colors and patterns. There are standard French Bulldog colors like black, fawn, cream and patterns like pied and brindle, which are considered common for the breed. Rare and unique colors like blue and lilac, as well as patterns like tan and merle have gained more popularity in recent years. Basically any combination of these is possible, so you’ll find your favorite for sure!
Frenchie Personality
French Bulldogs probably have the biggest personality among all the dog breeds. They are funny, friendly and insanely affectionate, making them the perfect companions for anyone. Frenchies adapt easily to any lifestyle, they don’t bark too much and though they can be stubborn, they are very trainable. They are also highly intelligent and need a fair amount of mental stimulation. Frenchies are like small children: simply irresistible!

It’s no secret that French Bulldogs are prone to some health issues like breathing problems and skin allergies, which doesn’t actually mean that they will develop these for certain. This category includes colors that are less common and require special breeding, such as blue, lilac or merle.
Exotic colors: from 6,780 USD
The rarest shades, including fluffy and Isabella Frenchies, fall into this category due to their unique genetics.

As devoted lovers of dogs and especially French Bulldogs, 10 years ago our family started to breed our own puppies to make other people happy with healthy and loving Frenchies. Originally, we are two brothers: Tom and Geri. Tom has a degree in animal breeding so he puts his professional mind along with his big heart into raising Frenchies. Geri, an Olympic athlete in freestyle wrestling, is a master of endurance when it comes to running the family business.
As reputable French Bulldog breeders, we at TomKings set very high health, genetic and wellbeing standards to make sure that all our Frenchies feel like family members while living a happy, fulfilled life and enjoying parenthood of beautiful fur babies. Instead of kennels or crates, we raise them in vast, green gardens with plenty of place to roam around and we let them sleep and rest in large family houses where our dogs and pups can socialize with humans of any age. We believe that well- balanced puppies come from well-balanced family backgrounds.
