We have been living with brilliant and playful Frenchies on our farm for more than 10 years, so the answer seems to be obvious. But we appreciate it can be a hard decision when you like more breeds, or when the family members can’t agree. The TomKings Puppies team tried to be objective and list the reasons why you will love a Frenchie boy or girl (or more actually!).

ToggleWhy should you choose a French bulldog?
French Bulldogs were a result of a cross between bulldog ancestors imported from England and local breed in France (hence the name) in the 1800s. It’s the fourth most popular dog breed in the US according to the list by AKC in 2017. Famous celebrities having and loving a Frenchie include Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Jackman, Madonna, Michael Phelps and Eva Longoria.

#1 Frenchies are always playful and fun
Frenchies are often called clown dogs to refer to their fun, vivacious character. They are always up to some trick and play. Click here to read 6 things French bulldogs love to do.
#2 Frenchies are Family-friendly
They get on well with everyone in the family from children to grandparents. They are very patient during playtime, or quiet time and like lots of affection.
#3 Frenchies are very good with other pets
If you properly socialize them from the beginning, Frenchies are very friendly with other breeds of dogs and even cats. So if you think of a second or third pet, a French Bulldog is a great choice.
#4 Frenchies are very low maintenance
The thing Frenchies require the most is love, and it’s not difficult to give it to them. Otherwise, they have an easy-care coat with short fur, so they are ideal to keep in a flat, but also on a farm or in a garden.

#5 Frenchies are the ideal companion
A Frenchie is very flexible and can easily adapt to the rhythm and programs of the family. They can be huge coach potatoes if needed to be, but also happy to play around with the kids and other pets the whole day. The only thing to look out for is the swimming pool, as some of the Frenchies might not be good swimmers.
#6 Frenchies have no need for a big space
Adult Frenchies are usually 11-12 inches tall, boys weigh 20 to 28 pounds while girls are 16 to 24 pounds. They are small compared to many other dog breeds so even in a smaller flat or car are very easy to live with.
#7 Frenchies are easy to love
Frenchies are cute, sweet and easy to love. They learn commands very quickly and don’t get aggressive so they are not dangerous to anybody in the family or the neighborhood.

I am not able to have a Frenchie now, due to mobility issues. I need knee surgery. If I am ever able to have a fantastic companion, it would be none other than a Frenchie and from nowhere else but Tom Kings Farm. They love Frenchies like no other breeders. I look at frenchies every day. I absolutely became obsessed with them after my Granddaughter got 2. They are so special.
Thank you Marcia so much for your kind words! I wish you all the best with your surgery, and sending hugs to your granddaughter’s pups. 🙂
