A couple of days ago I read an eye-opening article by Tony Robbins, a world-known motivational speaker who you may have already heard of. He has inspired millions across the globe to have a better life and his idea is that there are 6 basic human needs that bring us fulfillment and ultimately shape our behavior: certainty, variety, significance, connection, growth and contribution. People find different ways to satisfy these needs and while I was studying these, I suddenly realized something: dogs actually fulfill all six of them! Keep on reading to find out how a Frenchie changes your life and what our TomKings parents have shared about that.

ToggleThe 6 basic human needs
Who doesn’t want to have an amazing life? The possibility is there for everyone, still many of us don’t know how to get there. Here’s again what Tony Robbins says you need to have in your life in order to feel happy and fulfilled:
- Certainty
- Variety
- Significance
- Love/connection
- Growth
- Contribution
In the following sections, we’ll explore each of these needs and see how a Frenchie can actually help you to achieve them!
1. A Frenchie brings certainty into your life
Certainty is the most basic need that we all have. Why? Because people need to feel secure about their future, they need stability in their lives to be able to function in a healthy way. You’ve probably noticed that you’re way more relaxed when you know what’s going to happen next as opposed to when you have no idea what to expect. Certainty basically equals to comfort.
When you bring a Frenchie into your home, first you may feel that your life turns upside down. Suddenly there’s that beautiful little soul that you’re responsible for, someone who depends on you in every way. At first, it’s certainly not easy: you’ll probably need to wake up several times at night to let your baby out, you’ll need to go for walks even if that was never your favorite thing to do.
But once you establish a routine that works both for you and your fur baby, you’ll have system and balance in your life which will ultimately make you feel a lot better. You’ll be motivated to incorporate regular walking times into your day resulting in better health too. And just imagine what it will feel like going home from work knowing that your Frenchie is there waiting just to be with you!
“The excitement Oliver shows me when I get home from work is my absolute favorite part of my day. We can’t imagine our lives without him.” (Tim)
2. A Frenchie brings variety into your life
Having certainty and routine in our lives can definitely make us content until a certain point, but many of us get bored if everything that happens to us is predictable. Oftentimes we need some variety and excitement to shake things up a little bit and make us feel alive! There are endless ways to achieve that, and having a Frenchie is one of them.

One of the main reasons why we love Frenchies is because they are the masters of fun! They are goofy and hilarious, and always doing something silly to make their parents laugh. If you’ve seen a Frenchie in the middle of a zoomie before, you know what we’re talking about! You’ll never again have a boring day with a Frenchie in your life and we mean that: your baby will be your personal comedian and rest assured that they will take that job seriously.
“There’s never a dull moment with these guys! Odin keeps life fun and interesting!” (Laurie)
3. A Frenchie makes you feel significant
People want to be heard and they want to be seen. They have the basic need to feel that they are important and that their lives matter. Just think of the last time you received a compliment from someone. Did you feel significant at that moment? Probably yes.
Frenchies have a superpower, which is that they can make you feel like the most significant person on the planet! They depend on your care and are truly grateful for every moment you spend together with them. When you play with your fur baby, you are the only one who exists for them in those minutes and having that bond is something that doesn’t compare to anything else.
“Having Blu, my grand pup come for a visit is like having my grandchild come. He lifts my spirits, makes me laugh, and I know he truly loves me. His excitement to see me makes my heart sing.” (Lynn)

4. A Frenchie makes you feel loved
Our basic need for love and connection is probably the one that we all crave the most. People thrive when they have a meaningful connection with someone who they love and who loves them back. It brings us endless joy, helps us through all the hardships and makes our days worthwhile!
The most significant reason why people love Frenchies is that they are the best companion dogs. They have an extremely high level of emotional intelligence, which means that they can adjust to your emotional state perfectly. When you are sad, they comfort you by cuddling and when you are happy and energized, they also become playful and entertaining. When you have a happy and healthy Frenchie by your side, you certainly won’t feel alone again: they’ll always be there to brighten your day!
If that’s not enough, you will also be more inclined to go out and meet other dog owners. Our TomKings Frenchie Meetups are great opportunities for you and your Frenchie to connect with more people (and dogs) and make new friends.
“Nyah lifted my spirits in a very hard time! She’s been the light of our lives!” (Lauren)
“Jack has helped with my depression. My mom passed away in 2020 – I’ve had a rough time. My mom and I talked about getting a Frenchie so I felt like finally getting Jack was making her apart of my life again. Jack is a little joy.” (Sarah)
5. A Frenchie inspires you to grow
Life is about constant learning and changing. There’s no way around it: we need to grow in order to become better versions of ourselves. This is not always easy unless you have a sweet Frenchie in your life to motivate you every day.
Frenchies can inspire us in so many different ways: some of us may become more social and connect with more people, some of us may become healthier and go out more, some of us may even take the courage to start our own business. We are constantly hearing from our TomKings parents how their Frenchies changed their lives for the better, to which we can very much relate as well.
“Getting Teddy has completely changed my life, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have started my own company! He radiates so much positive energy and is just the best.” (Karolina)
6. A Frenchie inspires you to give
The sixth basic human need according to Tony Robbins is contribution. The moment we stop thinking about ourselves and start looking for ways to help others and make them smile, we realize that “giving is better than receiving” are not empty words. It’s what gives our lives meaning.

to Adopting a Frenchie
Frenchies give nothing but love and they constantly inspire us to do the same! Due to their high emotional intelligence which we mentioned above, they can become amazing service dogs and together you can even help people in need within your community. A TomKings Frenchie called Rex does exactly that: he provides anti-anxiety services to students before their final exams! His mom Valerie is very proud of him and so are we!
“We love Rex so much but he’s more than a cute sweet lovable family member. He’s helping the community!!” (Valerie)

The best website and dedication to understanding the whole picture. I downloaded info, cruise the pages of adorable pups. My grandpa was a vet fit almost 79 years. I was raised with all critters. Seeing the smiles and healthy pups on your site warmed my heart.
I’m praying for a pup.
Thank you so much, Deborah! Guilian can’t wait to meet you! 🙂
