A Blue Pied French Bulldog is a Frenchie whose coat carries two things at once: the dilute “blue” gene, which softens black pigment into a smoky gray, and the pied pattern, which leaves large white sections across the body. The result is a little one who looks mostly white, with the head and back covered in blue patches around the eyes, ears, and shoulders, and sometimes a faint black mask on the muzzle.
Both of these genes are recessive, so both parents must carry the right combination for a Blue Pied baby to arrive in the litter. That is why these companions are considered a rare colour, and why a true Blue Pied is not the same as a regular blue or a regular pied Frenchie. The Blue Pied is not part of the AKC breed standard color list, but it remains one of the most loved looks among Frenchie families around the world.
