Your Frenchie obviously needs you to feed him and give him shelter, but much more than that. Your Frenchie needs your love, attention, entertainment, and he or she can also give you back much more if you are both involved. Training your French Bulldog is important as well as playing with him or her, but these two can go hand in hand with some of the below games.

Train your Frenchie: Treasure Hunt

It’s a great game to challenge your pup’s brainpower. Find some paper cups, boxes, bags and hide treats under some of them. Ask your puppy to find the treats, and you will see how much fun you will both have. It’s also a very good way to teach him or her the command “Find.” or “Get.”, as by the nature of the game, they will be rewarded by finding the treat.

You can also buy these toys from online and local stores. These usually include a few compartments or boxes and you can hide treats in some of them. Or there is a ball in a maze and your Frenchie has to chase the ball out of the maze and as a reward he or she can have the treat from the box.

Train your Frenchie: Hide and seek

A golden oldie that has several versions. First, teach your pup the command “Stay” by repeating the command and holding your palm turned to him or her.  Move a bit farther and farther while your Frenchie still stays sitting. Then move to an other room where he or she cannot see you but can hear you saying “Come here.” Give your puppy lots of treats if they find you. Then repeat it.

You can combine it with involving one more person and ask your Frenchie to find your friend or an other family member.  First, the person can stay within the sight of the dog, but as the dog is more used to it, the person should hide in the house, or behind a tree. This is huge fun and also a very good way of teaching them several important and everyday commands.

Train your Frenchie: Tug of war

It’s a very good game for your French Bulldog to train their muscle, have some physical activity, and to have some fun as well. Instead of this making them more aggressive – as some might suspect, – they can reduce their stress level. There are tug toys you can play with,  or you can use a simple rope. You can also attach the rope to a tree, or a hook and let them play with it and draw it until they can.

Make sure you only play these games when both of you are into it, and enjoy it. Frenchies are happy to play a game again and again, but after a while, they can be bored with some of the toys and games, so it’s good to have some change of pace.
