Is it safe for French Bulldogs at the time of Coronavirus pandemic?

Amidst the avalanche of worrying news about Coronavirus we can’t stop asking ourselves: ‘Can my Frenchie be infected?‘What can I do to protect them?’ Read here what we, at TomKings Puppies do to keep the babies safe and why it’s a good idea to adopt a Frenchie now.

(The photos in this article show pups who were born on the TomKings Puppies farm and currently live in a forever loving family all around the world.)

Can your Frenchie be infected with Coronavirus, or can you get it from them?

Transparency is key in our family, so you have to know that – even if we have been raising premium quality French Bulldogs for almost 13 years, – we have never met Coronavirus, and hopefully never will. However, in the current situation, we felt it’s our responsibility to research reliable sources (like the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Hong Kong  Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and The World Organization for Animal Health) and give you an update in these difficult times.

At present, the only known way of spreading the disease is from a human to a human. There has been no evidence that French Bulldog (or any other dog breed) can be the source of COVID19 or that they can be infected with it.

How can you stay safe?

However, it’s important to follow certain measurements (which, by the way, are important in any case.)

  • Always wash your hands before and after touching your pup.
  • Avoid large dog or human gatherings.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize your pup’s sleeping place, bowls, and toys.
  • If you feel unwell, let others take care of your Frenchie, and don’t let your puppy stay in your bed, even if you normally do so.
  • Strengthen his or her immune system: ask your vet about the recommended vitamins, follow the cure for 3 months and then take a break. (Remember, that the cheapest vitamin is never the best.)
  • You can take walks and go outside with them. People might be cautious to see you with a dog, as Coronavirus is believed to have originated from bats. There’s a misbelief that all animals carry it, which is not true.

Is it recommended to adopt a French Bulldog at the time of the pandemic?

due to the Coronavirus COVID 19 pandemic all the airlines declared that they stop shipping puppies for safety reasons. This means that we have to postpone our puppies’ shipping until further notice from airlines.

I’d like to reassure you that all the puppies are absolutely safe, live and play happily on our farm.

Due to the Coronavirus COVID 19 pandemic, all the airlines declared that they stop shipping puppies for safety reasons. This means that we have to postpone our puppies’ shipping until further notice from airlines. I’d like to reassure you that all the puppies are absolutely safe, live and play happily on our farm.
It’s good to know, however, that due to the shipping ban, breeders are temporarily reducing breeding. This will result in less premium quality puppies in the second half of the year and increased prices. We expect to have fewer puppies in the second half of the year so if you have considered adopting a sweet, purebred furry family member, this is the right time.

What does TomKings Puppies do to keep your baby safe?

Always check what the breeder does to raise a healthy Frenchie, even in times of the COVID19 outbreak. These are the five things we do to keep our puppies healthy.

French Bulldog farm
  1. Our farm is in Hungary, surrounded by a wonderfully green, uninhabited area, far from the crowd and pollution. We are all in the best health, including two-legged and four-legged family members. Our team of vets checks the pups even more often than usual.
  2. It’s a normal procedure for us to take maximum care of our babies, but since the outbreak of Coronavirus, we take extra measures. Our newborn babies are isolated from the other litters and only a few family members have access to them. We strengthen the immune system of our puppies by giving them the best quality food and vitamins. We clean and sanitize their places very often.
  3. They don’t live in kennels or cages but run freely on our farm enjoying the fresh air. Each pup has a large space to run and play, thus reducing the risk of any infection.
  4. We love French Bulldogs, and it’s our mission to promote ethical breeding. If we had the slightest suspicion that our babies or the parents could be at risk, we would immediately stop breeding them.
  5. In this period we add an extra check-up by our vet before they leave to make sure the parents get an absolutely healthy Frenchie. We are in regular contact with the future puppy parents, and record several videos and live calls so that they can see their sweethearts.

Your puppies are the best puppies I’ve seen so far.. I am so looking forward to adopting my Frenchie from your kennel. You also offer more than most. Shots, training and placing the puppy finder in the puppy is awesome.
I really would like a male, gray, or brown,. I would like to know if we can name our own puppy.?

  2. This was an awesome blog post and very informative. I was wondering how the virus was going to affect us choosing our puppy this month and if it would be able to come home in the scheduled time frame.
